Sr. Staff Structural Engineer

Sr. Staff Structural Engineer needed for Salisbury, MD office. MS in Civil or Structural Engg., or Engg. related field or equiv req. PLUS 1 yr relevant Engineering work exp. reqd. Duties may incl: Perform code research & generate engineering calculations for structural design of various concrete & steel structures; Perform structural analysis w/ the aid of finite element analysis programs; Review project documents & supervise other engineers & drafting staff; Design gravity load framing systems & supporting foundations & develop structural drawings; Review & evaluate contractor bids for owner consideration. Reqd. strong knowledge & understanding of the principles of civil & structural engineering; Reqd. strong understanding & practical knowledge of the following codes & specifications: ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC 341, & the AISC Steel Construction Manual. As a project architect, Eric plays a vital role in coordinating and designing various project elements. ERIC’s Story

Eric Bradley is a Structural Engineering Tech at AWB Engineers. He enjoys working with his helpful coworkers, especially Matt, who guides him through things he doesn't understand. This helps him grow and learn in his career.

Eric does both drafting and structural engineering work. He designs structural systems, and works with architects and other engineers. He enjoys working across disciplines, and feels that it gives him a well-rounded understanding of the field.

Eric started thinking about a career in architecture, but ultimately decided that architectural engineering was a better fit for him.  He found AWB Engineers a few months after graduating. One thing that drew him to AWB was that they encompass all of the disciplines of architectural engineering.

Eric feels that there are opportunities to grow his career at AWB, and he has many more licenses that he can work towards.

Edward’s Story

Edward initially considered a career in special education but found himself drawn to the engineering industry. Matt’s Story

Matt Smith, who serves as the President of AWB Engineers, takes great pride in the quality of work that his company produces. One of the ways they achieve this is through having full design capabilities in-house, allowing them to provide a comprehensive range of design services for industrial and food and beverage projects. With expertise in architecture, structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, plumbing engineering, and electrical engineering, AWB Engineers is a one-stop-shop for all design needs.

Smith also values employee growth and development, as many employees have started at entry-level positions and worked their way up to senior positions, which he attributes to mentoring and opportunities provided within the company. AWB Engineers also offers internships, which have resulted in several valuable employees, and fosters a laid-back environment with flexible hours. The company has a national footprint and Smith hopes to see young people in the company today grow with the company and become owners and principals in the future.

Pawel’s Story

Pawel Szczurko, a Principal Engineer, joined AWB Engineers in 2008 with little knowledge of the construction industry. He commends AWB for training him to become the engineer he is today. Pawel’s role at AWB comes with many responsibilities including leading HVAC system design and managing industrial and commercial projects. 

“If we see talent, we will be very happy for them to come to our company.” 

Pawel states that AWB’s goal is to serve the country in food processing, food distribution, cold storage, and pharmaceutical facilities. AWB Engineers accept and complete projects everywhere. Wherever the customers are is where AWB will go. They have the intention to continue growing and expanding their reach throughout the entire country.
